Jeff Kroesch

Jeff Kroesch serves as the chairman of the Bloomington/Normal - Asahikawa Sister Cities program, a role through which he leverages his deep passion for Japanese culture and his educational background. As an English teacher at Normal West High School, Jeff has dedicated his career to inspiring students and fostering cross-cultural understanding. His interest in Japan began during his college years when he had the opportunity to study abroad in Japan, an experience that profoundly influenced his life and career.

With a lifelong appreciation for Japanese culture, Jeff has been instrumental in revitalizing the Sister Cities program following the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic. His commitment to reestablishing and enhancing the program reflects his dedication to building bridges between Bloomington/Normal and Asahikawa. Under his leadership, the program has not only resumed its annual exchanges but has also introduced new initiatives to strengthen the ties between the two communities.

Jeff's leadership, combined with his personal connection to Japanese culture and his professional experience in education, has been vital in ensuring the continued success and impact of the Bloomington/Normal - Asahikawa Sister Cities program. His efforts have reinforced the program’s mission of fostering international goodwill and mutual understanding, enriching the lives of students and community members alike.

Monthly Meetings

Bloomington/Normal - Asahikawa Sister Cities Committee meets the first Monday of each month at 6:30 p.m. at the Central Illinois Regional Airport, 2nd Floor Conference Room 3201 CIRA Drive Bloomington, IL.
